Dylan Egan Kolar, is a spirited 10 yr old living in Sayville, New York. He was diagnosed with Shwachman Diamond Syndrome at the age of one. Shwachman Diamond Syndrome is a rare bone marrow failure syndrome and is the 2nd most common cause of pancreatic insufficiency, second only to Cystic Fibrosis.

He is currently doing very well under the guidance and care of the wonderful doctors and staff at Schneider Children’s Hospital. More research is needed to help Dylan and all the other children who are struggling with this very rare syndrome. The Shwachman Diamond Project, Ltd. is a non-profit charitable organization founded in 2005, to fund research into Shwachman Diamond Syndrome as well as other Inherited Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes and Pancreatic Insufficiency Conditions. Another part of its mission is to educate others on the benefits of Cord Blood collection. Saturday, June 18, 2011, will mark the 8th Annual 5k Shwachman Diamond “Dash for a Cure”. Once again, it will be held at Sunrise Drive Elementary School in Sayville, New York.

The 5k Run/Walk and 1k Fun Run continues to grow each year. With this increasing attendance comes a great opportunity to promote your business and join us in this worthy cause to help Dylan and all of the other children with bone marrow failure syndromes.
