Thank You 2016
Welcome. Thank you all for being here on this beautiful Saturday morning. Thank you to all of the volunteers and sponsors, the participants and the spectators for coming again this year.
For thirteen years my family and I have been running around trying to make a difference by doing something crazy like organizing a 5K to raise monies for awareness and research into a cure for Shwachman Diamond Syndrome.
I look into the crowd and I see…. I notice… faces that were once foreign and are now familiar to me. Faces of those who have continued to show their support and kindness by showing up here to partake in this event many times over the years.
We thank you. You ….are making a difference. You are helping us in our journey to help those, like my Dylan affected by SDS. Believe it or not, just managing to say the word “Shwachman Diamond Syndrome” is a big deal. There are people out there somewhere who are more inquisitive than others and they are going to look into this Syndrome that you just mentioned, and most likely mispronounced and find it interesting enough to want to figure it all out. The Syndrome with a funny name.
Thank you all again for being here and helping us to become closer to our goal of finding a cure. Hope to see you all next year.
Please remember: “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest complement, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”– Leo Buscaglia
